Exposure Awards

The winner of the first annual Lens Culture International Exposure Award has been announced.

The Portfolio Award goes to Italian photographer Marco Vernaschi, for his powerful project on the consequences of drug trafficking in the small West African country of Guinea-Bissau. His series presents a disturbing, visceral look at a country and people torn apart by the international drug trade.

Terry Gilliam’s Imaginarium

Terry Gilliam director of Twelve Monkeys, Brazil, Fear & loathing in Las Vagas and other visionary films, brings us a new offering – The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. The new film has it’s flaws but has been described as beautifully cinematic.

As with all films (except batman & robin) you should make up your own mind!

A Duck for Mr Darwin

A Duck for Mr. Darwin is a group exhibition of nine contemporary artists exploring evolutionary thinking and the theory of natural selection.

Transforming the Mead Gallery at Warwick Arts Centre from 10 Oct – 12 Dec 2009 the exhibition will feature sculpture, drawing, painting, film and installation. Focusing on the legacy of Charles Darwin’s ideas, A Duck for Mr Darwin is informed by the spirit of experimentation which was so distinctive to the time in which he lived.
